DEC Unveils Carpenter Falls Unique Area Improvements
WHAT: DEC Regional Director Matthew Marko and local partners will announce the completion of significant enhancements at Carpenter Falls Unique Area to provide safe public access to dramatic steep terrain and waterfalls while protecting the site's sensitive landscape in the Skaneateles Lake watershed. The new elevated boardwalk and viewing platform are constructed to be accessible to people with disabilities, allowing all visitors the opportunity to traverse through the forest to view this spectacular waterfall.
WHEN: Tuesday, July 26, at 11:30 a.m.
WHERE: Carpenter Falls Unique Area, Town of Niles, Cayuga County. The new parking area is located on Appletree Point Road near the intersection of Carver Road. See Google Maps (leaves DEC website).
VISUALS: Ribbon cutting of new site amenities, including elevated boardwalk and observation platform accessible to people with mobility impairments, and trail with stone steps leading hikers safely down a steep ravine for a unique view of the falls.
