Reservation System to Open Friday, Jan. 17 for Camping Dates beginning May 15

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) today announced that beginning Friday, January 17, reservations will re-open for the May 15 start of the camping season at DEC's Adirondack Park Eighth Lake Campground, Inlet, Hamilton County.

"DEC campgrounds provide great opportunities and experiences for residents and visitors alike to explore the outdoors and make memories that will last a lifetime," said DEC Commissioner Basil Seggos. "We are pleased to announce that the camping season at Eighth Lake Campground will start May 15, and are excited to welcome back our loyal campers. This camping season will be a great one for everyone who visits DEC's campgrounds in both the Adirondack and Catskill parks."

Earlier this year, DEC posted alerts in the camping reservation system to notify campers that the facility would open later in 2020, to accommodate planned improvements. DEC can now accommodate reservations for the first half of the season at Eighth Lake campground.

Located on the southeast shore of the 314-acre Eighth Lake, this campground offers great fishing for lake trout with special salmon ponds adjacent to campground. The campsites offer privacy and are large and well forested. Camping equipment from tents to 40' RVs can be accommodated. Eighth Lake Campground offers a variety of recreational opportunities including canoeing and boating, fishing, hiking, and bicycling.

Amenities at the Eighth Lake Campground include: 126 tent and trailer sites; picnic area with tables and fireplaces; flush toilets; hot showers; trailer dump station; recycling center; mobility impaired accessibility; firewood sales; sand beach; swimming area; picnic area; DEC canoe and boat rentals; and hiking trails.
