Reinstein Woods Hosting Free Home Energy Workshop

Workshop to Explore Solar and Energy Efficiency Programs

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is inviting homeowners to a free "Home Energy Action Workshop" on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., at Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve in Depew.

At the workshop, Jason Kulaszewski, Clean Energy Coordinator for the University at Buffalo Regional Institute (UBRI), and Lou DeJesus of PUSHGreen will provide an overview of solar energy options available to homeowners. The workshop will explain how solar energy works and what community and residential solar programs and incentives are available in Western New York. Participants will also explore home energy efficiency programs and discover practical tips for saving money by conserving energy at home. Attendees can win a home energy efficiency kit provided by PUSH Green.

PUSH Green is a community-based energy efficiency program funded by People United for Sustainable Housing (PUSH Buffalo) and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). It provides Erie County residents access to free energy assessments, installation services, solar programs, and low-cost financing.

UBRI's Clean Energy Communities initiative helps local municipalities implement clean energy actions, save energy costs, and improve environmental stewardship in Western New York.

Light refreshments will be provided. Registration is required for this free program; call Reinstein Woods at (716) 683-5959. Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve is located at 93 Honorine Drive, off of Como Park Boulevard in Cheektowaga.
