Discover the Great Outdoors at Reinstein Woods Festival

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) invites you to join a fun-filled afternoon celebrating winter. Activities will commence regardless of weather.

Event: Winter Wonderland in the Woods

Where: Reinstein Woods Nature Preserve, 93 Honorine Drive, Depew

Date: Saturday, February 10, 2018

Time: 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Directions: From Buffalo: Take I-190 South to 90 East. Take Exit 52A William Street and head toward Cheektowaga. Turn left onto Union Road. Turn right onto Bennett Road. At the stop sign turn right onto Como Park Boulevard. Look for the Reinstein Woods sign at the corner of Como Park Blvd. and Honorine Drive. Turn right onto Honorine Drive.

Activities will include ice fishing demonstrations, snowshoeing for kids, nature crafts, exhibits, demonstrations, and visits from costumed characters.

  • At 1:00 p.m. DEC Forest Rangers will demonstrates flat-ice rescue techniques.
  • At 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. SPCA Wildlife Department will talk about their efforts to rehabilitate wild animals.
  • At 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Erie County Park Ranger Jerry Krajna will lead winter animal signs walks.
