The New Paltz office serves the following counties: Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester.

Region 3 Municipal & County General Permit GP-3-17-001

Region 3 of the NYSDEC proposes to issue General Permit GP-3-17-001. This General Permit will authorize Towns, Villages, Cities and Counties located with Region 3 of the NYSDEC to conduct various activities including:

  • Bank and channel stabilization for transportation related construction activities
  • Culvert and Bridge replacement and rehabilitation
  • Rehabilitation and repair of existing transportation facilities
  • Survey and exploratory activities
  • Debris and gravel removal

Authorization for coverage under this General Permit will be through submission of a Joint Application Form and all associated documents and review by DEC staff. No work will be authorized under the GP until the permittee receives the signed General Permit from the NYSDEC.

Greenwood Lake

The General Permit authorizes various activities on Greenwood Lake during a drawdown period. Activities include:

  • Maintenance dredging (excluding commercial or public marinas)
  • Repair or in-kind replacement of existing bulkheads, retaining walls, docks, boathouses, platforms or other existing structures including the use of new support structures/pilings
  • Debris removal
  • Replenishment of existing beach areas on the shoreline and exposed lake bottom.

North River Shipyard

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) as lead agency has issued a Positive Declaration pursuant to the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQR) for the proposed outdoor spray-painting operation at the existing North River Shipyard Facility (DEC Application ID #3-3920-00220/00018). An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) is required to evaluate potential impacts associated with the project. The Final Scoping Document (PDF) outlines the items to be evaluated as part of the EIS.
