In a given stocked stream section, most bridges receive trout at every stocking (usually one or two per spring). If there are sufficient volunteers along to carry fish away from the trucks, areas in between the bridges are sometimes done, provided that they are not posted against fishing and are totally open to the public for angling. Posted sections of streams are not stocked with trout.
Legend
PFR : Public fishing rights, which are public rights-of-way through otherwise private land. Please be considerate of the landowner and their property. Yellow "Public Fishing Area" signs are posted along sections of streams with PFR.
WMA : Wildlife Management Area, owned by New York State and operated by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation, open to the public. Information and maps are available for WMAs in Region 8.
Open by owners : Stocked sections of streams without PFR that are open to fishing by willing landowners. Respect their property or you risk losing public access to these streams. Sections of streams posted against fishing by landowners are not stocked with trout by the state.
