Watercraft Transport Permit for Aquatic Invasive Species
When is this permit required?
A Watercraft Transport Permit for Aquatic Invasive Species is required to transport a watercraft that has not been drained (including bilge areas, livewells, bait wells and ballast tanks) or cleaned of visible attached plant or animal material from a DEC boat launch site to a location on land. Situations where this permit is required include:
- Transport of a boat from a DEC launch site to an on-land location of storage.
- Transport of a boat from a DEC launch site to a cleaning or repair facility.
- Transport of legally caught bass or other fish kept in a boat's live well from a DEC boat launch to a weigh-in location.

What do I do with it?
This is a self-certified permit that must be completely and accurately filled out by the boater, signed and dated and kept in the possession of the individual transporting the boat.
