Mirror Lake

Across from the DEC Lake Placid boat launch site on Route 86 or Mirror Lake Drive in the village of Lake Placid. DEC maintains a hand launch that is a 50 yard carry to dock at Mirror Lake from the parking area. Only electric motors are permitted.

Fish Species:

Rainbow Trout, Lake Trout, Smallmouth Bass, Yellow Perch, Brown Bullhead, Rock Bass, Pumpkinseed


The lake is best known as a rainbow trout fishery but offers some exceptional lake trout can be found down deep in the summer. It is best to use a flashy lure or bait fish. The spring Hexagenia hatch (large mayflies) can offer good fly fishing opportunities for rainbow trout. Great smallmouth bass fishing can also be had in the early morning or late evening. Watch out for the many swimmers!

Ice Fishing:

Ice fishing is not permitted.

Fisheries Management:

Rainbow and lake trout are stocked annually along with the occasional landlocked salmon stocking.
