Dunkirk Harbor
Dunkirk, Chautauqua County
A paved pier is the most popular place to access this harbor on the southern shore of Lake Erie, just 40 miles southwest of Buffalo. Visitors here can see masses of waterfowl during spring and fall migrations. In the winter, ducks and anglers are drawn to the harbor, which is sheltered from winds and waves, and kept ice-free by heated water from a nearby power plant.
