Public Access to New York's Marine Waters

New York State's marine waters offer abundant recreational opportunities including fishing, boating, and wildlife viewing. Below is a list of points of contact where you can obtain information about boat ramps, fishing piers, public beaches for fishing and places where you can enjoy our marine environment.

Marine Boat Ramp and Fishing Access Interactive Map

DEC's Marine Boat Ramp and Fishing Access Interactive Map provides information on boat ramps and saltwater fishing access points on Long Island in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. Boat ramps are displayed in the initial map view and fishing access points can be added to the map by turning that feature on.

The map includes information about the type of ramp or access point, location, amenities, and organization with jurisdiction. Check with the municipality or organization with jurisdiction, for permits, fees, or restrictions.

New York City Fishing Map

DEC's I FISH NY New York City Fishing Map (PDF) shows publicly available freshwater and saltwater fishing sites within the five boroughs of New York City. The map shows nearby subway lines, common fish species, and provides links and contact information for relevant information and fishing regulations.

For basic information on fishing see the I FISH NY: Getting Started Fishing in NYC Brochure (PDF).
