Chenango Lake

Chenango Lake is a small clear lake located in northeastern Chenango County near the City of Norwich. The Norwich Water Department uses Chenango Lake as a reserve water supply reservoir.

Physical Features:

Elevation: 1800 feet
Area: 133 acres
Shoreline Length: 2.1 miles
Length: 0.75 miles
Maximum Depth: 30 feet
Town: New Berlin

Aquatic Plant Life:

Aquatic plants are found mainly on the north and south ends of the lake. Few aquatic plants are found along the middle shore line due to the steep drop off.

Access:

An informal public access hand launch is available in the form of a roadside pull-off on the south end off West Shore road.

Fish Species:

Largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, chain pickerel, tiger musky, pumpkinseed sunfish, bluegill, rock bass, yellow perch and brown bullhead.

Fishing:

Chenango Lake is a popular ice fishing location for yellow perch.

Regulations:

Statewide Fishing Regulations Apply.

Fisheries Management:

Chenango Lake is stocked annually with approximately 450 tiger muskies.
