Mongaup Falls Reservoir

Mongaup Falls Reservoir gets stocked each spring with 1,250 brown trout.

Shoreline Length: 3.5 miles
Max Depth: 32 feet
Mean Depth: 10 feet
County & Town: Sullivan County, Town of Forestburgh

Access:

NYS DEC boat launch located off Forestburgh Road with parking for 5 cars and trailers. Open April 1 to November 30. No gas motors allowed. No ice fishing allowed (eagle habitat). View the Mongaup Falls Reservoir Contour Map (PDF).

Fish Species:

Brown Trout, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Chain Pickerel, Bullhead, Bluegill, Yellow Perch and Black Crappie

Fishing:

The brown trout found in Mongaup Falls Reservoir average 1.5 to 2 pounds. Fish are usually found along the drop offs where the old river ran through the valley. Drift over these drop offs with a minnow to catch some nice fish.
