Environmental Navigator View Tips

More information from this program:

The Navigator is best viewed at 1024 x 768 resolution but can be viewed adequately at 800 x 600. We do not suggest using lower resolutions. Lower resolutions will decrease the map size making it difficult to see details.

Note: Environmental Navigator works with Netscape versions 4.5, 4.6 and 4.7 or IE versions 4, 5 and 6. It will not work with Netscape 6.x.
Environmental Navigator uses frames. If your browser does not support frames, the Navigator will not work.

For best results, you should make changes to your browser settings before you start the Environmental Navigator. If you do make any of these changes while you are in the Navigator, you may need to reload the page.

Hiding The Toolbars
Hiding one or more of the toolbars in your browser can greatly increase the size of the map on your screen.

If you're using Netscape, select View > Show > Toolbar and uncheck the toolbar you want to hide. You can return the toolbars simply by rechecking them.

In Internet Explorer, select View > Toolbars and uncheck the toolbar or feature you want to hide. You can also hide the status bar by selecting View > Status Bar and unchecking it.

Changing The Font Size
You can also change the font size that your browser displays to create more space for the map.
To change the size of the fonts in Netscape, click on the "Options" menu on the menu bar and select "Preferences" from the drop-down menu that appears.

The "Preferences" dialogue box appears. In the left side of the dialogue box, in the "Category:" list, expand the "Appearance" heading. "Font" and "Color" will appear below it. Select "Font" and the dialogue box will display options for changing the fonts. Here, you can set the font to whatever size suits you. When you're done, click on "OK".

To change the font size in Internet Explorer, select "Text Size" from the "View" drop-down menu. Choose an option from the menu that pops out to the right.

Hiding The Task Bar
You can use the "Autohide" function to make the Taskbar at the bottom of the page automatically disappear when you're not using it. When you want it to reappear, simply move your pointer to the bottom of the screen and it will reappear until you move the pointer away again. To use the "Autohide" function, right click on an empty space on the task bar.

The "Taskbar Properties" dialogue box appears. Check the box next to "Autohide." Click "OK". To disable the "Autohide" function, right click on an empty space on the task bar and uncheck the box next to "Autohide" in the dialogue box that appears.

Changing Your Screen Resolution
Changing your screen resolution can greatly increase the size of your desktop area. To change your screen resolution, right-click on an open space on your desktop. A menu will appear. Select "Properties" from the bottom of the menu. The "Display Properties" window will appear.

In "Display Properties," select the "Settings" tab. On the right side of the window in the section called "Desktop Area," there is a slide-rule that you can use to adjust the resolution of your desktop. Adjust this to your desired resolution. This new resolution will affect all of your desktop applications and will remain in effect until you change it back. Note: With certain operating systems, your computer may tell you to restart before it can change the resolution settings.
