Project Description:

The applicant proposes the withdrawal of a supply of water up to 234,822 gallons per day (GPD) for the purposes of snowmaking , fire suppression and potable water at the Mount Van Hoevenberg Olympic Sports Complex from the following sources: Potable: 5 wells ( cumulative total of 13,062GPD); and Non-Potable: Lot #4 Well (25,920 GPD) and North Meadow Brook (195,840 GPD*). Water will be pumped from North Meadow Brook to an existing reservoir for storage of non-potable water for snowmaking and fire suppression. *Two pumps at North Meadow brook will be upgraded with variable frequency drives with inconsequential water withdrawals not to exceed 92 GPM in October and 136 GPM during November through April in accordance with the Unit Management Plan for this facility. The non-potable water withdrawal will be mainly seasonal (October thru November), except what's needed for fire suppression.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

Project is a Type I action. A coordinated review with other agencies was performed and a final Environmental Impact Statement and a Findings Statement was prepared by the Lead Agency.

SEQR Lead Agency: NYS Olympic Development Authority

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

Cultural resource lists and maps have been checked. The proposed activity is not in an area of identified archaeological sensitivity and no known registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified or documented for the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Sep 15, 2022.
