Project Description:

Wellesley Island Water Corp is proposing various improvements for an existing drinking water system. The improvements will include the installation of new underground waterlines.

The new waterlines will include approximately 3,000 linear feet of 8" HDPE pipe (3 separate lines) installed via an open cut trench (1,000'Lx10'Wx8"D). Approximately 3,500 linear feet of 8" HDPE pipe will be installed by Hydraulic Directional Drilling (HDD). Of the above, about 20 linear feet of open cut trench woudl be within/under regulated wetlands. All wetland disturbance would be restored with clean fill in the bottom of the trench then backfilled with excavated native materials to restore to preexisting conditions. Approximately 80lf of HDD pipe installation would occur under a regulated water way and the minimum depth below the water way bottom would be 5 feet. All HDD drill pits would be placed outside regulated waters and wetlands and an inadvertent release plan has been provided.

The proposed work would be conducted at the eastern end of Wellesley Island in the Town of Alexandria, Jefferson County. Specifically, the proposed new HDD installed waterlines would be placed generally along Bullhead Bay Road from Sunset Drive to Club Road. Project Description:

Construct multiple stepped-backed limestone walls and stairs along 104 linear feet of shoreline. Beginning from the water, the first three limestone walls will be three courses high and will occupy a footprint that is 5.5' wide and 6' high. The upper most limestone wall will be 2 courses high and will occupy a footprint that is 4'-8" wide, and 3' high. Each course of limestone will be stepped back 6".

Rip rap will be placed at that toe of the limestone wall closest to the water. The rip rap will cover the bottom two course of the three course wall. The rip rap will be 4'-6" wide and 3' high.

A 5.5' wide staircase made of limestone blocks will be in all four of the limestone block walls.
