Project Description:

The applicant proposes to construct a new 50' x 56' road salt storage shed and to remove and replace pavement. A new stormwater drainage system with drainage swale is also proposed to be constructed. A portion of the project is located within the adjacent area of a NYSDEC Regulated Freshwater Wetland. The proposed project is located at 100 Grand Blvd. in Deer Park, Town of Babylon in Suffolk County, SCTM# 100-59-2-19.

Project Description:

The applicant proposes to renew and modify the permit for this existing Solid Waste Transfer Station facility to authorize an increase in throughput from 100,000 gallons per day (gpd) to 333,333 gpd of portable toilet waste, residential, commercial and industrial septage, storm water and grease wastes. This increase will be accomplished by improved processing technology, and by expanding storage capacity at the facility from 42,000 to 144,000 gallons using vertical storage tanks. No change to the footprint of this facility is proposed, and it will continue to discharge sewer compatible filtrate (clear liquid) directly to the Suffolk County Southwest Sewer District (Sewer District #3) via an existing sewer connection. Concentrated solids are removed to an approved facility for final disposal. The project is located at 15 Greene Street, Bay Shore, Town of Islip, Suffolk County.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

Project is an Unlisted Action and will not have a significant impact on the environment. A Negative Declaration is on file. A coordinated review was not performed.

SEQR Lead Agency: None Designated

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

Cultural resource lists and maps have been checked. The proposed activity is not in an area of identified archaeological sensitivity and no known registered, eligible or inventoried archaeological sites or historic structures were identified or documented for the project location. No further review in accordance with SHPA is required.

Coastal Management:

This project is not located in a Coastal Management area and is not subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

DEC Commissioner Policy 29, Environmental Justice and Permitting (CP-29)

It has been determined that the proposed action is not subject to CP-29.
