Project Description:

The Town of LaGrange proposes the development and use of two new water supply wells, identified as Well 4 and Well 5, to be located at the existing water supply facility well site on Stringham Road, for use by the Town Center Water Improvement Area #2. These new wells will supply water in an amount not be exceed a pumping capacity of 220 gpm each. A new 200,000 gallon storage tank is proposed at the existing storage facility site, which will allow for additional water storage.

As part of this application, the Department will formally consolidate the approved sources of supply and water service areas for the Town of LaGrange, with a total withdrawal of up to 2,187,360 gallons per day (gpd) from Town wells, under a single facility permit (WW No. WW012579).

Project Description:

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) is proposing a Initiated Modification (DIM) to the State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) Permit NY010909, pursuant to 6 NYCRR Part 750-1.18, and 750-1.19, the Priority Ranking System known as New York State's Environmental Benefit Permit Strategy (EBPS).

This is a publicly owned treatment works that receives flow from domestic users Wastewater consists of treated sanitary wastewater. Treated wastewater is discharged via Outfall 001 to Wallkill River, a class B water. The following changes to the permit are proposed: Updated pH limit range; Changed Total Residual Chlorine to daily maximum effluent limit; Changed seasonal disinfection dates; Removed influent sampling for pH and Settleable Solids; and removed Total Kjeldahl Nitrogen monitoring.

As a result of the EBPS full technical review, a new five-year term is proposed. The permit includes updated forms and the latest general conditions. Details of changes are specified in the draft permit and fact sheet/statement of basis which may be viewed and printed from the Department web site at: http://www.dec.ny.gov/permits/6054.html.

Requests for a legislative (public statement) hearing must be sent in writing to the DEC contact person below by the comment deadline. The Department assesses such requests pursuant to 6 NYCRR Section 621.8.
