Project Description:

The applicant proposes to dredge a 28' x 472' section of Heils Creek to 4' feet below mean low water. Approximately 1500 cubic yards of material will be dredged. Approximately 1000 cubic yards of material will be dewatered in the adjacent parking lot and then removed to the Town of Brookhaven Landfill for disposal. Approximately 500 cubic yards of material be disposed on the adjoining beach area for nourishment. The proposed dredge area is located from the mouth of Heils Creek in Seatuck Cove and then extending up the creek across the Newport Beach Marina waterfront to the marina boat ramp at the foot of Driftwood lane, Town of Brookhaven, Suffolk County.

State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) Determination:

Project is an Unlisted Action and will not have a significant impact on the environment. A Negative Declaration is on file. A coordinated review was not performed.

SEQR Lead Agency: None Designated

State Historic Preservation Act (SHPA) Determination:

The proposed activity is not subject to review in accordance with SHPA. The application type is exempt and/or the project involves the continuation of an existing operational activity.

Coastal Management:

This project is located in a Coastal Management area and is subject to the Waterfront Revitalization and Coastal Resources Act.

Opportunity for Public Comment:

Comments on this project must be submitted in writing to the Contact Person no later than Feb 25, 2021.
