The action involves the cutting and removal of 44 trees 3 inches or larger in diameter at breast height (DBH) and an estimated 28 trees less than 3 inches DBH as part of a culvert replacement project. The trees need to be cut so that traffic can be redirected on to a temporary road. In addition, an existing power line will be temporarily relocated during construction. It was determined that this project is necessary for health and safety purposes. Tree cutting will be in compliance with Lands and Forests new and existing policy on Cutting, Removal or Destruction of Trees and Other Vegetation on Forest Preserve Lands. The project is located in the Colgate Lake Wild Forest in the Town of Jewett, Greene County, New York.
