New York’s Oil & Gas Database

Welcome to New York State DEC’s Oil and Gas database. Here you can search over 35,000 wells and 1,000 oil and gas producing companies.

New features allow refined searches of detailed information. You can query online or download the selected data you need. Search on over 30 different parameters. You can save the results of your queries in either a Microsoft Excel format or in a comma-separated format (CSV). In addition, this application is designed to replace a number of currently static pages which the Division of Mineral Resources posts nightly as part of the Department’s Environmental Notice Bulletin.

The Company Data includes information on operators, drillers and pluggers, plus companies that offer financial security services.

The Wells Data covers company, well type, permitting & drilling history, well completion data with formation tops, objective & producing formations, field designation & spacing status. Location information includes county, town, USGS Quad and Latitude & Longitude.

The Annual Well Production search offers annual well status and production information from 1985 to the most current production year.

Well Transfers reports on the Department receipt and approval of Requests for Well Transfer

The Geologic Formation search lists rock formation names and geologic ages used in the database.

The Geologic Fields search displays field names assigned to wells. In some cases there is additional information on field type (gas or oil), discovery date and discovery well.
