As of December 6, the gate on the access road leading to the Bog River Dam (also known as Lows Lower Dam) will be closed to allow for significant construction needed to maintain the dam. The road will remain closed through the 2023 field season. All vehicles must be removed from the access road to dam and parking area near the dam by 12:00 p.m. (noon) December 6, 2022, Closure to the site includes river access and parking area at Lows Lower Dam, located near the end of State Highway 421. Construction activities will impact recreational users of the Horseshoe Lake, Hitchins Pond, and Lows Lake areas, including the cartop boat launch and parking area at the Lower Dam. Members of the public are encouraged to seek alternative paddling destinations during the construction project. Additional information can be found on the DEC website:

What: The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s (DEC) 13-member
Climate Justice Working Group (CJWG), established under the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), will hold a meeting on
Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022 . The Climate Justice Working Group is tasked with establishing criteria for identifying disadvantaged communities for the purposes of co-pollutant reductions, greenhouse gas emissions reductions, regulatory impact statements, and the allocation of investments pursuant to the CLCPA.
This will be an informational meeting with limited official action. Discussion will include an analysis of public comments received on the
draft disadvantaged communities criteria . Members of the public are welcome to attend in person or listen to the meeting via webcast. Pre-registration is strongly encouraged and can be done by clicking the WebEx link below.

First, we’ll make nature journals using mostly recycled materials. Then we’ll play games to sharpen our observation skills and practice drawing objects found in nature. We will be indoors and outdoors for this program.
For children ages 7 and up, with an adult.
