Notice of Comment Period Extension for the Navy Grumman Groundwater Plume Proposed Consent Decree with Northrop Grumman

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) has reached an agreement with Northrop Grumman Systems Corporation (Grumman) and finalized a proposed Consent Decree regarding the remediation of the Navy Grumman groundwater plume located in Bethpage, New York. A notice of the proposed consent decree and request for comment was published in the Environmental Notice Bulletin on September 22, 2021, with the public comment period ending on October 22, 2021. The public comment period will be extended until December 7, 2021.

Written comments must be submitted to the contact listed above by close of business December 7, 2021.

Join Us for the Next Climate Justice Working Group Meeting


The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s (DEC) 13-member Climate Justice Working Group, established under the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), will hold an informational meeting on Thursday, Dec. 9 at 2 p.m.
The Climate Justice Working Group is tasked with establishing criteria for identifying disadvantaged communities for the purposes of co-pollutant reductions, greenhouse gas emissions reductions, regulatory impact statements, and the allocation of investments pursuant to the CLCPA.
This informational meeting will not take any official action but include presentations on mapping analysis and will be conducted by teleconference. Members of the public are welcome to listen to the meeting via webcast.
