The Department is proposing to repeal:
6 NYCRR Part 206, “State Aid for General Air Pollution Work, New York City” 6 NYCRR Part 250, “Miscellaneous Orders” 6 NYCRR Part 256, “Air Quality Classification System” Subchapter C, Air Quality Area Classifications, 6 NYCRR Parts 260-317 because they are obsolete.
The Department is also proposing to revise Part 257, “Air Quality Standards” to remove references to 6 NYCRR Part 256. In addition, the Department is proposing to revise Part 200, “General Provisions” to update and remove attendant references.
A public hearing will be held on Tuesday August 22, 2023 at 1 p.m. and written comments on these proposed rulemakings may be submitted until 5 p.m. on August 28, 2023.

DEC announced a public comment hearing to ensure full consideration of potential environmental and environmental justice issues arising from the proposed renewal and modification of the S.A. Dunn Mine and Construction and Demolition Debris Landfill (Dunn Landfill) Solid Waste and Mined Land Reclamation permits. DEC will hold two in-person sessions on Aug. 8, 2023, at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m., in the auditorium of the Rensselaer Junior/Senior High School to support the enhanced public participation required for this permit review process.

No freshwater fishing license is required during the event, and all equipment and bait will be provided for free.

What: The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's (DEC) 13-member Climate Justice Working Group (CJWG) (leaves DEC website), established under the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA), will hold a meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023. The CJWG is tasked with establishing criteria for identifying disadvantaged communities for the purposes of co-pollutant reductions, greenhouse gas emissions reductions, regulatory impact statements, and the allocation of investments pursuant to the CLCPA.
This meeting will include the approval of minutes from the previous meeting and a group discussion on the by-laws and procedure for future meetings
following the finalization of the disadvantaged communities criteria on March 27. Members of the public are welcome to attend in person or listen to the meeting via webcast.

Hudson River National Estuarine Research Reserve . These free, educational canoe trips explore tidal marshes, observe birds and wildlife, discover lush flowers and unique plants, and provide spectacular scenery.
The canoe trips are suitable for adults and children (6+), whether you’re an experienced or beginner paddler. The trips leave from two different launch sites:
Stockport Flats in Columbia County and
Tivoli North Bay in Dutchess County. Novices and families welcome!

Columbia County’s Stockport Creek . We may paddle into a tiny tidal channel to see a beaver lodge perched next to the water, or up to a great swimming beach on Stockport Middle Ground, adjacent to the shipping channel – so wear your swimsuit and hope for waves from passing boats!

Applicant seeks to install a four (4) foot wide walkway over a Right-of-Way (ROW) and install a catwalk, ramp and float seaward of mean high water (MHW) in Moneybogue Bay, a subsection of Moriches Bay. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) denied the application by Notice of Permit Denial dated August 19, 2022 and applicant has requested a hearing.
Legislative Public Comment Hearings: A legislative public comment hearing pursuant to 6 NYCRR part 624 to hear and receive unsworn comments from the public was held electronically on July 26, 2023.
Written Public Comments: Written comments concerning Iron Man Realty's permit application will be accepted by e-mail until 5:00 p.m. on September 1, 2023 or by regular mail if postmarked by September 1, 2023.
Issues Conference: Pursuant to 6 NYCRR 624.4(b), a pre-adjudicatory issues conference will be conducted on September 6, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. Persons seeking to participate at the issues conference and the subsequent adjudicatory hearing, must file a petition which must be received at NYS DEC's Office of Hearings and Mediation Services no later than 5:00 p.m. on August 25, 2023. The issues conference may be canceled if no petitions for party status are received.
Adjudicatory Hearing: The adjudicatory hearing is scheduled for September 6, 2023 immediately following the issues conference, or at 9:30 a.m. if the issue conference is canceled, and continuing as necessary. Take part in a guided program or explore the trails and visitor center on your own.
