10:00 AMReLeaf workshop: Tree Biology and ID Walk
https://nysufc.org/releaf-workshops/
Contact  urbanforestry@dec.ny.gov

In this guided walk, Dr. Don Leopold will discuss basic tree biology and tree identification as he leads attendees around the 160-acre Oakwood Cemetery. This is an outdoor event, so please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring sunscreen and a water bottle.

Oakwood Cemetery was designed by New York City landscape gardener Howard Daniels, one of the country’s early landscape architects. It was designed as a place of natural beauty, specifically located in an area with hills, valleys, and large oak trees. Oakwood is more than 150 years old and home to many heritage trees.

The walk starts at the mausoleum straight ahead from the cemetery entrance, opposite the Islamic Society of Central New York mosque on Comstock Ave. Please use this link for the specific location and driving directions: https://goo.gl/maps/xKKhVfPSipMqGj5m7

$10 for ReLeaf and Council members, $15 for general public. Register online: https://nysufc.org/releaf-workshop-reg-r7/

This calendar provides a listing of all DEC-sponsored events that are open to the public. You can click on any event in the calendar to view additional details about the event. Note that the events at environmental education centers will only display in the region in which they are located, even though they serve residents from adjacent areas. We welcome people with disabilities to all of our programs. Please call the contact number ahead of time to let us know your specific needs and we will be happy to learn how we can best serve you.

We would appreciate receiving feedback from our users. Please let us know if you encounter any difficulties viewing or using this calendar by sending an email to the DEC webmaster.
