The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), in partnership with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), will host two virtual information and educational sessions on the State’s draft disadvantaged communities (DAC) criteria. The first session will take place on Wednesday, Apr. 13, 2022 - 12:00 pm | (UTC-04:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada).

The April public education sessions are an opportunity for interested stakeholders to review the CJWG's process and methodology for selecting DACs and to answer technical questions on the draft criteria and maps.

Together, kids and their caregivers can enjoy a fun hour-long outdoor activity. For children in grades K–5.

• Registration is limited to two programs/month. If you want to sign up for additional programs, you will be added to the waitlist. No limit for virtual programs.
• Social distancing and mask protocols are subject to change with current COVID guidelines.
• If you or a family member feels ill, is waiting for COVID test results or have COVID symptoms, please stay at home.
• In case of poor weather, programs may be cancelled.

A virtual public meeting has been scheduled on Wednesday April 13, 2022 at 7:00 PM via Webex (virtual platform) regarding a proposed remedy to address contamination related to the Rochester Gas and Electric (RG&E) East Station Former MGP site #828204 (Rochester, Monroe County) within New York’s Manufactured Gas Plant Program.

I BIRD NY: Woodcock Walk

We’ll begin with a brief talk about the American woodcock and its management at Five Rivers. Then we’ll stroll out the Service Loop through managed areas and feeding swales to watch and listen for woodcock. Bring binoculars if you have them. A limited supply will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Carry a flashlight and dress appropriately for the weather.
