DEC invites the public to comment about a draft plan to investigate contamination related to the Old Erie Commons site #C727015 (Canastota, Madison County) within New York's Brownfield Cleanup Program. Public comments about the draft plan will be accepted through March 25, 2022.

Join NYS ReLeaf’s NYC chapter for a workshop on Stewardship Resilience at the Queens Botanical Garden on March 18th. We will highlight stewardship efforts and provide updates on projects going on around NYC such as Forests for all NYC – The Nature Conservancy’s ongoing urban forestry program, biochar and NYC trees, East Side resilience tree plantings, fruit trees in NYC, the John Bowne High School tree nursery and their ongoing Arbor Day program, and updates on the spotted lanternfly. Speakers include Art Simpson – Senior Forester with NYC Parks, Sam Bishop – Director of urban forestry and education for Trees NY, and Matt Donham and Nave Strauss from Horticulture and natural resources for NYC Parks, and more.

Continuing education credits with ISA are pending, credits for planning and zoning boards are available.

Proof of vaccination and a photo ID required to attend and will be checked at the front desk upon entry. The Queens Botanical Garden accepts CDC Vaccination Card, the Excelsior Pass, and the NYC COVID Safe App.

Cost: $25 general public, $20 for ReLeaf and NYS Urban Forestry Council members. No refunds, but registration can be transferred to another person.
