Spring is a great season for the many migrating animals of the Hudson Valley...including eels! Join our DEC educators from Norrie Point Environmental Center, where they will talk about The Hudson River Eel Project, and the data they collect daily on juvenile "glass eels" in Hudson River tributaries.

Check out College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Cornell University's Virtual River site for more eel-y videos and lesson plans here >>

We’ll begin with a brief socially distanced talk about the American woodcock and its management at Five Rivers. Then we’ll stroll out along the Service Loop through managed areas and feeding swales to watch and listen for woodcock. Bring binoculars if you have them. Carry a flashlight and dress appropriately for the weather.

Call 518-475-0291 by Saturday, April 10, to register.

For the safety of our visitors, staff and volunteers, and in compliance with guidance from New York State, the New York State Department of Health, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), social distancing practices must be followed. Masks must be worn throughout guided programs, while at a roving program, and on the trails whenever a 6-foot distance cannot be maintained between individuals or households.

This calendar provides a listing of all DEC-sponsored events that are open to the public. You can click on any event in the calendar to view additional details about the event. Note that the events at environmental education centers will only display in the region in which they are located, even though they serve residents from adjacent areas. We welcome people with disabilities to all of our programs. Please call the contact number ahead of time to let us know your specific needs and we will be happy to learn how we can best serve you.

We would appreciate receiving feedback from our users. Please let us know if you encounter any difficulties viewing or using this calendar by sending an email to the DEC webmaster.
