DEC invites the public to comment about a proposal to address contamination related to the Former Hygrade Polishing and Plating Co. Site (Long Island City, Queens), within New York's Brownfield Cleanup Program. Public comments about the proposal will be accepted through December 7, 2019.

Guided Walk: PREPARING FOR WINTER

A walk on the Beaver Tree Trail will present opportunities to observe how Five Rivers’ wildlife is preparing for winter. We’ll look for signs of beaver activity and the last of the ducks on the pond as ice starts to creep over the water’s surface.

Family Fun: SOIL! SOIL! SOIL!

It’s more than just dirt. Celebrate World Soil Day at Five Rivers by joining us for a presentation about the wonders of soils. Learn what makes up soil, how it differs from dirt, the important roles that soils play in our environment, and ecological problems related to soil.

Citizen Science: OWL PROWL

Join center staff and bird experts from the Hudson-Mohawk Bird Club as we survey owls at Five Rivers. Field parties will visit likely owl roosts, then gather to compare findings.

 Space is limited. Please call to register by Wednesday, November 28.
