Engage your students in a fun, place-based data visualization project this school year! Students participating in the Great Lakes Data Jam will analyze local data to identify trends and patterns. Students will share their findings in a scientific report, but also communicate their findings in a creative way that engages and informs a larger audience. The data communication projects can take many forms, from posters and infographics to songs, poems, and short movies. Details can be found in the Data Jam Educator’s Guide. For teachers of students in grades 4-12.

Register online at https://reinsteinwoods.org/explore/programs-services/educator-workshops/.

DEC is undertaking a statewide community air quality monitoring effort in ten disadvantaged communities that are home to an estimated five million New Yorkers.

Rochester  is one of several communities selected for air quality monitoring using criteria developed by the State’s Climate Justice Working Group. DEC is looking for input to identify and define specific areas for monitoring in their communities.
