DEC educators will be leading an accessible bird walk for beginner birders from 11:00 am-12:00 pm on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Mt. Loretto Unique Area on Staten Island.

Visitors will explore the grassland habitat, watch and listen for birds in the tall grasses using provided binoculars, and learn about fall migration as we look out over the ocean. The trail we will walk is over three feet wide and paved with a slight incline. The total walk will be about 4,000 feet with stops at the wheelchair-accessible observation platform and at a covered pavilion to sit and rest.

The paved parking lot has two van accessible parking spaces and holds the wheelchair accessible portable bathroom. Pre-registration is required and capped at 15 people.

Please email Andy Snyder at r2ed@dec.ny.gov to register or ask any questions about this event.
