Duties/Responsibilities This position reports directly to the Director of the Division of Fish and Wildlife. Incumbent will provide administrative support to the Director and three Bureau Chiefs, with primary attention directed toward the Director.

Duties:
  • answering and directing telephone calls;
  • managing the Director's calendar;
  • scheduling internal and external meetings;
  • arranging travel plans and submitting expense reports for the Division Director and Bureau Chiefs;
  • tracking correspondence for the Director's signature;
  • processing incoming/outgoing mail for the Division;
  • acting as the Division FOIL Coordinator;
  • tracking correspondence received through the Commissioner's Correspondence Unit;
  • acting as Recording Secretary for the Conservation Fund Advisory Board; and
  • other duties as assigned.


Incumbent shall carry out all duties with a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality, exhibit excellent organizational skills and demonstrate a high level of proficiency in written and oral communication. Incumbent will also supervise lower level administrative staff.
Minimum Qualifications

Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC
or

Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
or

Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 13 or higher and:

Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1: Permanent competitive service as an Administrative Assistant 2, Accountant Aide, Program Aide, Business Document Specialist 3, Head Mail & Supply Clerk, Head Stores Clerk, Legal Assistant 1 and Trainee 2, Office Assistant 3, Office Assistant 3 (Calculations), Office Assistant 3 (Human Resources), Payroll Examiner 2, Payroll Specialist 2, Principal Data Entry Machine Operator.

Also any language parenthetic for the above titles. You will be required to demonstrate proficiency in keyboarding. Additional titles which qualify can be found on the Department of Civil Service website, search "GOT-IT."
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Overtime and overnight travel may be required.
