  • Direct, coordinate, and complete administrative and/or acquisition related surveys requested by the NYS DEC Region 1 and Region 2 Offices for the Bureau of Real Property either through in-house staff or through consultant contracts.
  • Prepare and furnish required materials to assist the NYS DEC Region 1 and Region 2 Offices in their respective Land Acquisition programs as requested by the NYS DEC Office of General Council and/or NYS Office of Attorney General in closing title.
  • Prepare and Review Technical Reports and act as a technical advisor regarding trespass, occupancy, boundary disputes and other factors affecting the State land holdings in the NYS DEC Region 1 and Region 2 offices.
  • Provide technical guidance and support of all Global Positioning System (GPS) survey requests.
  • Coordinate all procurements for equipment and supplies in relation to land survey staff support.
  • This position will require travel.
Minimum Qualifications

Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC
Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 22 or higher and either:
Eligible for transfer under Section 70.4: Must meet the open competitive minimum qualifications below;

Open competitive minimum qualifications (provided for 70.4 transfer eligibles): A land surveyor's license and current registration. In addition, you must have three years of experience in the management of multiple projects and the supervision of the full range* of professional land surveying activities and staff.

If there is a viable promotion examination eligible list (three acceptors) for this position, candidates who qualify based on 70.4 transfer options cannot be considered.
Additional Comments Must have a valid driver's license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and in adverse weather conditions
