A Regatta is an organized water event of limited duration, which is conducted according to pre-arranged schedule and in which general public interest is manifested (§34 of the New York State Navigation Law). The Department of Environmental Conservation issues Marine Regatta Permits to individuals or organizations wishing to conduct a Regatta on navigable waters within the Adirondack or Catskill Parks. The NYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation issues regatta permits for navigable waters outside these areas.
