Assistant Forest Rangers
Assistant Forest Rangers play a vital part protecting, preserving and enhancing the natural resources on state lands as well as maintaining the safety and well being of the public.
Each year, the Department employs approximately 30 Assistant Forest Rangers in various capacities across the State. General job duties and responsibilities as well as Civil Service qualifications are outlined in the enclosed job description. Most positions have some unique job responsibilities, and each has its own particular description. Many Assistant Forest Rangers return year after year, and there are usually several applicants for each available position. Typically, candidates who meet Civil Service qualifications will be interviewed in March and successful candidates attend mandatory training sessions when they begin work.
