K-9 Unit Equipment
All equipment necessary for the support of the mission of the K9 Unit is provided. This includes specially equipped patrol vehicles with safety K9 inserts, temperature monitoring systems, and alarms. In addition, each handler is provided with all the equipment necessary to properly deploy and train his assigned K9, including tracking harnesses, safety leads, GPS, hydration packs, cooling vests for the K9 on hot days, and blaze orange safety vests.
Additionally the K9 Unit has three off-road utility vehicles, equipped with K9 crates, and emergency lighting, for patrolling and responding to incidents in remote areas inaccessible by patrol vehicle.
