Compliance and enforcement summary documents describe the nature of the program and the enforcement actions taken, including: on-site inspections, review of periodic monitoring reports and performance tests, compliance evaluations and tracking of compliance related activities, as well as enforcement responses and penalties for violations.
To detect and identify air pollutants, DEC employs high-technology instrumentation. This website describes the instruments and how they are used in air pollution enforcement, and provides images showing interesting, and sometimes beautiful, microscopic images of common air pollutants.
