What Is The WQIP Program?
The Water Quality Improvement Projects (WQIP) program is a competitive, reimbursement grant program that helps communities improve water quality.
Who Is Eligible?
- Municipalities
- Soil and Water Conservation Districts
- Not for Profit Corporations (in some cases)
What Types of Projects Can Be funded?
There are five (5) types of projects eligible for funding.
- Municipal Wastewater Treatment
- Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4s)
- Nonagricultural Nonpoint Source Abatement and Control
- Aquatic Habitat Restoration
- Water Quality Management
What's New for this Round?
- "Hardship" funding is available for municipal wastewater treatment projects
- Green Infrastructure is eligible under a number of project types
- Smart Growth and Energy Efficiency is a consideration for all project types
How Much Funding Can Applicants Receive?
Successful applicants can be reimbursed for up to 75% or 85% of the total cost of the project.
