Wildlife Publications

DEC Publications Locator is your easiest way to obtain online or printed publications. DEC stocks some of its publications as printed copies; others are online only. The list below shows DEC printed and online publications about New York's wildlife, including endangered and threatened species. Publication titles that are available online are linked to the Web page document.

Online publications are either exact facsimiles of the printed publication (created in Portable Document Format, or PDF) or Web pages that contain the same information as the printed publication but may not look the same.

How to Use Publications Locator

  • Online publications: Click on the title to view (check the file size shown next to each publication - a large file may take a few minutes to download). Once the publication is up on your screen, you can print it.
  • Print publications: Click on "Order a Copy." A blank e-mail will appear. Type in the publication title along with your name and mailing address, and hit Send. Your order will go directly to the appropriate DEC program.
  • If no link is shown in the order column: You can call the division to request a printout of the online publication.
