GPS Continuously Operating Reference Station
Delmar, NY

Wildlife Resources Center
Delmar, NY
Since 1996, the Bureau of Wildlife has maintained a Global Positioning System (GPS) continuously operating reference station (CORS). This station was moved to a new location at the Wildlife Resources Center, 108 Game Farm Road in Delmar, NY on 23 May 2000 and the station was designated with ID 'NYEC' for New York Environmental Conservation. Code and carrier phase GPS data are generated and provided free of charge, in Receiver Independent Exchange (RINEX) format, via this internet site. These data are used to obtain more accurate results from a variety of GPS projects.
The station is comprised of an Ashtech Z-12 dual frequency receiver with an Ashtech L1/L2 geodetic antenna that is permanently mounted on the building. Ashtech's Geodetic Base Station Software (GBSS) version 3.0 is used to control the receiver. The raw data is converted to RINEX 2.0 format and is available in either single frequency or dual frequency mode. The dual frequency data uses a 15 second recording interval to facilitate survey work. The single frequency data is recorded every 5 seconds and is used primarily for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other mapping applications.
Data are available on-line for a period of 90 days. Requests for archived data may be made via e-mail at the address below. In addition, data at different recording intervals (e.g. 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 seconds) may also be requested via e-mail.
