Proposed Project Timeline
Receipt of Next Steps Letter
Once the municipality has been notified that their water quality improvement project will receive funding, they should begin work on completing a workplan. The municipality should contact the appropriate regional staff (as shown on the enclosed list) for assistance during this process. The municipality should also ensure that the SEQR review has been completed.
Within 90 Days of Receiving the Next Steps Letter
The municipality should submit a completed workplan to the appropriate NYSDEC region for approval. A copy should also be forwarded to Joanne Swint, Water Quality Programs Planning and Management Section Division of Water, NYSDEC, 625 Broadway, 4th Floor, Albany, NY 12233-3507. The NYSDEC regional office will conduct a technical review and the NYSDEC, Central Office will conduct an administrative review of the workplan.
30 Days from Submittal of Workplan
The appropriate region will technically approve the workplan within 30 days, and notify the NYSDEC, Central Office. The Central Office will complete their administration review during this period as well. The length of this review period will be determined by the necessity for any revisions and subsequent review and approval of them.
21-30 Days from Approval of Workplan
A proposed contract is prepared and forwarded to the municipality for signature. Please note that if SEQR requirements have not yet been met, the contract will be prepared but held until the process has been completed.
30 Days from Receipt of Proposed Contract
The municipality should return the properly executed contract (and a revised resolution if necessary) to the Central Office. The contract will then be routed through NYSDEC and forwarded to the State Attorney General and the Comptroller's Office for execution.
Within 60 Days of Receipt of Signed Contract
When NYSDEC receives an executed copy of the contract from the State Comptroller's Office a letter transmitting the fully executed contract is forwarded to the municipality and appropriate region.
