The following interactive online maps are available on the DEC website.
State Lands Interactive Mapper
The State Lands Interactive Mapper can be used to create custom maps of recreational trails on DEC lands throughout the state to help people plan outdoor activities.
New York Nature Explorer
New York Nature Explorer, a gateway to biodiversity information, is an online tool for finding out about the animals, plants and habitats in your neighborhood or area of interest. Users may choose a county, town, or watershed, or they may specify their own location on a map, and they will receive a list of the animals, plants, and significant natural communities that have been found there.
Geodata Map Viewer
The Geodata Map Viewer is an interactive mapping tool used to view DEC's geographic data. Visitors can select which data layers to add to the viewer, creating unique interactive maps. From the Map Viewer toolbar, click on the "Add Services" button and select the NYSDEC Server to choose data on topics like water resources, wildlife, and recreation. Several local and federal organizations can also be selected to view their data on the map. To learn more about all of DEC's available data, browse the Geodata Inventory.
Environmental Facilities Navigator
The Environmental Facilities Navigator accesses an interactive utility to locate facilities of environmental interest. These include: superfund sites, facilities with significant SPDES discharges, air emission sources, active solid waste management facilities, facilities discharging certain types of wastes, major electric generation facilities, plus sediment and other deposits in the bed of the Hudson River, mines, state recreational lands and other recreational features.
Environmental Resource Mapper
The Environmental Resource Mapper is an interactive mapping application that can be used to identify some of New York State's natural resources and environmental features that are state protected, or of conservation concern.
Mineral Resources Navigator
The Mineral Resources Navigator is an interactive utility to locate mines and oil, gas and other regulated well types. The information is refreshed nightly. Information on these sites are available through this application.
Stormwater Interactive Map
The Stormwater Interactive Map is an interactive mapping application used to look up geographic information related to the Phase II Stormwater Program. It can also be used to find geographic information useful for construction projects, including the geographic coordinates for a site.
Hudson River Estuary Benthic Mapper
Benthic Mapper displays data about the Hudson River's sedimentary floor in its geographic context. Benthic Mapper's data and maps are valuable for understanding, managing and restoring estuary habitats, for responding to environmental incidents, and for understanding sediment and contaminant transport.
