School Seedlings Program

By DEC staff

For the 20th consecutive year, DEC is offering free tree seedlings to schools across New York State. Any school that wishes to participate may choose either conifers or a wildlife packet. By planting trees, kids learn that trees play important roles in our environment, helping to clean the air, filter groundwater, and provide food and shelter to wildlife.

DEC also offers tree seedlings for sale to the public. A variety of tree and shrub species can be purchased at a reasonable cost. Seedlings may be ordered from January through March, and deliveries begin in May for spring planting.

For more information, search for seedlings on the DEC website or call (518) 587-1120 to request a brochure and an order form.
