Environmental Justice Interagency Task Force

Governor Cuomo is committed to achieving environmental justice through the equitable treatment and meaningful involvement of citizens, regardless of race, ethnicity or income, with respect to the development, implementation and enforcement of environmental laws, regulations, policies and programs. The Environmental Justice Interagency Taskforce is charged with developing policy recommendations and agency action plans under which each of the participating agencies will work to achieve environmental justice in their operations. The Environmental Justice Interagency Task Force was created by Governor David Patterson and first met on June 6, 2008. The first Stakeholder's meeting was held July 9, 2008, at which over 90 representatives of environmental justice organizations, larger environmental groups, businesses and municipalities met with the Task Force to develop policy priorities for the Task Force member agencies. These agencies responded by developing the draft Environmental Justice Action Agendas shown below, which went through a public comment period and were published on June 10, 2009.
