Archive of Outdoor Discovery-Biweekly Family Newsletter

DEC's biweekly electronic newsletter, "DEC Outdoor Discovery," has been replaced with a new, monthly electronic newsletter by the same name, starting with the September 2012 issue.

The new Outdoor Discovery encourages New Yorkers to explore the outdoors and learn about the environment. Each issue features a state property to explore, a hike of the month, wildlife watching tips, information for sportsmen and other outdoor events.

More Ways to Connect with Nature

If you are interested in learning more about the environment, check out DEC's award-winning outdoor magazine, the Conservationist. Each issue contains informative, interesting and beautifully illustrated articles.

Also check out Conservationist for Kids, the nature and environment magazine for kids in New York State. Written for students at or around fourth-grade level, this new publication is published three times annually and sent to fourth-grade classes in public schools. The magazine contains information and activities that encourage youngsters to get out there and enjoy the outdoors.
