Media Advisory - Public Meeting on Global Companies' Port of Albany Permit Application to be Held Feb. 12
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will host a public information meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 12 to discuss Global Companies' permit application to install seven boilers at its Port of Albany facility. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Giffen Memorial Elementary School Auditorium located at 274 South Pearl Street in Albany.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide information about the Global facility, answer questions and receive public comment on the draft permit application. Staff from DEC and Global will be on hand to provide information and answer questions regarding the permit application. DEC has invited representatives from agencies with direct oversight over response including the NYS Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services and local first responders.
Beginning at 5:30 p.m., the public is invited to attend an availability session where staff from DEC and invited agencies will be on hand to answer questions about the Global facility and the permit application. A number of staff will remain at informational tables throughout the evening to answer questions and provide information about the facility.
At 6:30 p.m., a brief presentation will be given by DEC regarding Global's permit application and DEC's procedures and policies related to regulating such facilities. In response to DEC's request, Global will also make a presentation regarding its facility at the Port of Albany.
From 7-9 p.m., the public will be given the opportunity to comment on the draft permit application currently before DEC.
Those attending should use on street parking and enter through the auditorium entrance on Rensselaer Street.
