Media Advisory - DEC Hosts 2013 Environmental Conservation Police Awards Ceremony
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will host the 2013 Environment Conservation Police Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at the Empire State Plaza, Meeting Room 6, Albany. The event begins at 2 p.m.
The event will honor Environmental Conservation Police Officers and Investigators for the hard work, dedication, and heroic actions they have performed over the past several years, including response and recovery efforts during Hurricane Irene and Superstorm Sandy.
Conservation Officers and Investigators are involved in a variety of tasks to protect our environment and natural resources, and play an important role in enforcing environmental laws and regulations, educating the public, protecting fish, wildlife and humans, and responding to emergencies.
These Officers are highly trained and often work with other agencies at the federal, state and local level to investigate alleged crimes and bring perpetrators to justice.
