Four Charged with Multiple Deer Violations in Otsego County

Four Otsego County men were ticketed with multiple deer hunting violations on March 29 for illegally killing eight deer in the county, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Regional Director Gene Kelly announced today.

"DEC takes the illegal killing of wildlife and endangering public safety by discharging firearms across highways very seriously and both are prosecuted vigorously," said Kelly. "Thanks to the investigative work of our Environmental Conservation Officers, we were able to charge these four individuals and obtain at least two convictions to date."

John C. Doloughty, 25, from the town of Hartwick, was charged with illegally killing an eight-point male deer and with discharging a firearm across a roadway in the town of Middlefield on November 18, 2012. Doloughty pleaded guilty on April 4, 2013, in Middlefield Town Court and paid a $1,000 fine.

Ryan M. Parshall, 21, from the town of Hartwick, was charged with illegally killing an eight-point male deer with a firearm during the bow season in the town of Hartwick. Parshall pleaded guilty on March, 27, 2013, in Hartwick Town Court and paid a $1,000 fine.

Kyle W. Bronson, 24, from the town of Hartwick, was charged with discharging a firearm across a roadway, taking an eight-point male deer with the aid of an artificial light at night and trespassing in the town of Hartwick on November 20, 2012. This case remains open and will be heard in Hartwick Town Court on May 8, 2013.

Kyle W. Bronson is also charged with taking a nine-point male deer with the aid of an artificial light at night, discharging a firearm across a roadway and not properly tagging a deer in the town of Middlefield on October 2, 2012. This case remains open and will be heard in Middlefield Town Court on May 5.

Keith R. Bronson, 20, from the town of Middlefield, was charged with illegally killing an eight point male deer, taking a deer before the legal hunting hours and killing two female deer without a permit in the town of Middlefield on November 22, 2012. This case remains open and will be heard in Middlefield Town Court on May 6.
