DEC to Make Remaining First-Come First Served Deer Management Permits for New York City and Long Island Residents Available Via Telephone
Leftover Deer Management Permits (DMPs) are now available at all License Issuing Outlets. Hunters from New York City or the Long Island area who wish to apply for a leftover DMP, however, due to Hurricane Sandy cannot find an open License Issuing Agent, may call DEC's Deer Management Hotline at 1-866-472-4332. DEC staff will process and mail these permits. Applicants who previously paid the $10 DMP application fee or are exempt from the application fee will not be charged for this additional application. For other applicants, there is a $10 application fee. The DMP Hotline hours are Monday - Friday from 8:00AM to 4:00 PM.
As of November 1, Wildlife Management Units (WMUs) that are available are 1C, 3M, 3R, 3S, 7F, 7H, 8A, 8F, 8G, 8H, 8J, 8N, 9A, 9F. WMUs that reach their target number of permits will close at the end of the business day, and be removed from the list of available units for the following day. A list of units with available leftover DMPs will be routinely updated on the DEC website.
Please note that only customers from NYC or Long Island affected by Hurricane Sandy may apply for leftover permits by phone, and only DMPs may be obtained through the Deer Management Hotline. All other leftover permits must be applied for in person at a license issuing outlet, and all other sporting licenses are available either online or by phone at 1-866-933-2257.
