DEC Outdoor Discovery Monthly Newsletter Now Available
A redesigned monthly electronic newsletter highlighting seasonal outdoor recreation opportunities throughout the state is now available, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced today. Each issue of the DEC Outdoor Discovery newsletter will include features such as Hike of the Month, Watchable Wildlife sites, an outdoor adventure, a calendar of events and photos of New York's most stunning scenery.
"This newsletter will open your eyes to New York's world class natural resources and outdoor recreation opportunities," said DEC Commissioner Joe Martens. "Public use of state parklands, camps, trails and waterways helps promote stewardship of the environment and economic growth for communities."
"A newsletter encouraging people to discover New York's outdoors is a wonderful service," said State Parks Commissioner Rose Harvey. "I look forward to working with our partners at DEC to inspire New Yorkers to make a lasting connection with all the great outdoors has to offer."
DEC Outdoor Discovery, which is available through free email subscription, captures New York State's diverse landscape and offers adventures for people of all interests and abilities. The September issue of DEC Outdoor Discovery spotlights the wonders of fall camping, tells wildlife enthusiasts about a premier viewing spot for migrating hawks, describes two Catskill hikes perfect for a crisp autumn day and more.
DEC Outdoor Discovery will be e-mailed to subscribers the first of every month and will also appear on the DEC website. To subscribe, visit DEC's website.
