DEC Announces New York Recycles Poster Contest Winners
All New York State public and private school children were invited to showcase their artistic talents and their commitment to the environment by participating in the 2011 New York Recycles Poster Contest sponsored by the State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the New York Recycles Committee.
The New York Recycles poster contest judging took place in June with more than 650 posters submitted. All judges remarked on the number of excellent submissions received and indicated deciding the best posters was a difficult job. The winning posters will be used in the 2012 New York Recycles Calendar. This annual calendar is a daily reminder to reduce, reuse & recycle.
Winning posters were chosen in five grade categories including K-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12 and Special Needs. All the students that participate are winners; they understand the importance of protecting our environment by taking action.
